Brecht, Marion D.; age 77; of Sumner; passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of His Life will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Sumner Center Nazarene Church with Pastor Harold Myers officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Prichard Cemetery. Marion was born September 7, 1937 in Sumner the son of Marion and Henrietta (Riggs) Brecht. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and had driven truck for various companies, including Fitzpatrick Trucking, Liquid Transport and retired from White Gas in Pompeii. Marion loved his music, friends and family, he was a kind caring man loved by all. After his retirement he enjoyed dealing at flee markets and auctions. Marion is survived by 5 children, Robin (Delbert) Gallihugh of Riverdale, Richard (Penny) Brecht of Sumner, Timothy (Stacye) Brecht of TN, Kelly Brecht of Alma, and Thomas Brecht of TN; a daughter-in-law, Kari Brecht of TN: 18 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Jeanne Alward of Mt. Pleasant, Helen Daymon of Sumner and Marylou Zelis of Sumner; brother-in-law, Mike Krauss of Shelby; and sister-in-law, Doris Brecht of Sumner. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dean William “Billy” Brecht; and 2 brothers, Richard and Kenneth Brecht; and 3 sisters, Betty Dudley, Janet Krauss and Agnes Dudley. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Berry Funeral Home in Shepherd.
