BEUTLER, MARY RUTH, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at Green Acres Assisted Living in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral Services for Mary will take place at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday, December 1, 2023, at 11 a.m. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be held in the Reflections Reception Center. Burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Weidman. The family will receive friends on Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan, VFW National Home, or Order of Eastern Star Chapter-Mt Pleasant Chapter 55. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Mary was born in St. Johns, Michigan, December 24, 1937, the daughter of Norman and Una (Wolfe) Schultheiss. She was a graduate of Rodney B. Wilson High School class of 1955. Three years after graduation, Mary married Carl Clyde Beutler on September 21, 1958, in St. Johns. They enjoyed 51 years of marriage prior to Carl's passing on April 24, 2010. Mary worked for many years as a secretary in the insurance industry. She worked for 20 years for Bill Barz Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Beal City, followed by 13 years working for the General Agency in Mt. Pleasant until her retirement. She liked working outdoors in her flower gardens. Mary was faithful to her birds, feeding and watching them daily along with the deer in the backyard. Time spent with her family was her favorite; she loved family gatherings and never missed a birthday party. Mary also enjoyed knitting and crocheting for her family; each grandchild has a handmade blanket specially made by Grandma. Mary was a member of the Chippewa Hills Band and Orchestra Boosters, Order of Eastern Star, Past Treasurer of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Weidman United Methodist Church, and was involved in 4H for many years. Mary is survived by her children, Diane (Donnie) Budd of Weidman, William (Diane) Beutler of Weidman, Brenda (William) Von Linsowe of Ypsilanti; grandchildren Jeremiah, Lucas, Emily, Hannah, Jacob, Kristin, Clayton, Kyle, Katy, Tara; great-grandchildren Adi, Finn, Westin, Lilly, Laynee, Julian, Alina, Oliver, Maisy, Jake Jr., Avery, Nora, Riley, Paige; brother Robert (Helen) Schultheiss of New York; and many nieces and nephews.
