Mike was a fantastic teacher and wonderful man who had a lasting impact on my two children, Allison and Riley Smith. They both had him for 5th grade many years ago (they are now 19 and 22) and they still talk about him as being one of their favorite teachers, not just because of what they learned, but how he taught and who he was as a person. He was a role model to them both, especially my son. He came to both of their high school open houses because he was just that kind of a caring person who remembered you and made you feel important. I was always struck by how he remembered details about my kids that I would never have imagined he would keep track of all those years later. He was kind, patient and positive. My children were blessed to have known him and benefitted greatly by being in his classroom. I wish Jen and all his family peace and comfort in their loss.

So sorry for your loss. I had Mr. Lindsay as my 5th grade teacher at Pullen Elementary in 1999. It seems like so long ago, but some of my favorite memories happened in his classroom. I can also recall inviting everyone I met growing up to attend my hockey games. How excited I was when I saw Mr. Lindsay in the stands wearing his iconic leather jacket. Although he may be gone, his memory will continue on in every student who will never forget a wonderful man and the fantastic influence he had on all of us. Doug Vanderlooven, MPHS Class of 2006

Dear Mike--You are neither family or close friend, yet you greeted me each time with more than acceptance, understanding and support. You greeted me with joy transparently revealing your love for others. thanks! Perhaps Galatians said it well. Fruit of spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Your spirit always fed mine! I grieve for your family and friends during this time of loss. I celebrate that you walked among us and you walked with me at times on our journey. Richard Bowen, MPHS

Dear Jen, Carla told me of Mike's passing and we were saddened to hear this news. We remember fondly the both of you and the few times we spent together. We remember Mike being a very funny guy. I'm sure the students' lives he touched we're richer for having him as their teacher. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Dave and Rita Dambrun

I worked with Mike and his wife Jen for years at Pullen. Mike also had my oldest son Michael Knight. It was Mike who changed my son's life and gave him the "bug" to go into acting. Mike gave Michael a flyer from CMU to try out for 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. Now because of Mike Linsday my son Michael Knight is a teacher/theatre teacher, who acts every day in his career. Michael also spends many hours writing plays and has even had a few purchased. Michael Knight became a teacher who was inspired by such a great man and teacher. Mike will be missed by so very many. God Bless and Rest in Peace
