Monica Rentfrow Obituary
Monica Kathleen Rentfrow was born on a lovely Palm Sunday morning, March 23, 1986, and became one of the Lord's most adored angels on a crisp winter day kissed by sunshine, February 15, 2014.
Monica is preceded in death by Lorene and Leonard Dane, Margurite Rentfrow, Mary Helen Cayton, and Jean Cayton.
She is survived by her parents, Edward and Traci Massar of Greenville, MI and Doug and Anne Rentfrow of Mattawan, MI; her grandparents, JoAnn and David Rentfrow, William and Gertrude Cayton, Ted and Delores Massar, Rich and Sandy Robards, and Pat Cartee; her brothers and sisters, Lindsey and Nick Gagnon, Nicole and Jeff Waldorf, Andrew and Amanda Massar; her niece, Natalie "Nattie-cakes" Massar; and her sweet puppy, pug Muggins. She also will be greatly remembered by her dearest love, Roy Cargill of Stonehaven, Scotland; as well as many aunts and uncles, cousins, and the most endearing group of friends this world has seen.
Monica was an Ithaca High School graduate, Alma College Alumni and Queen, and she received a Masters of Creative Writing from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She leaves a legacy with her literary works. She was proud to be a moderator and co-creator of the Facebook group LP women. She valued family traditions, coffee with loved ones, and making homemade notes and cards with her special touch. Monica believed in the endless pursuit of knowledge, and pondering all of life's little mysteries. She was an avid Lakeview Methodist camper, ukulele picker, pasta enthusiast, hat and bottle cap collector, and darts and billiards player. Her singing voice was beautiful, her sense of humor made all around her glow, and her perseverance and determination was unmatched.
Monica will be remembered by many, and for those who can make the journey, her family will be holding a Memorial Service at Alma College in the Dunning Memorial Chapel at Noon on Saturday, February 22, 2014 (614 W. Superior St., Alma). The Memorial will be followed by a Celebration Lunch for Monica's Life at the Alma United Methodist Church (501 Gratiot Ave, Alma). If you have a favorite poem or writing of Monica's, or if you would like to compose a piece in her honor, we ask that you bring it with you to the Memorial to pass onto the family to cherish.
In lieu of flowers or others gifts of graciousness, we would ask that you donate in honor of Monica to one of the two organizations that were dear to her: Wings of Mercy West Michigan, Inc.

All of us who worked with Monica will miss her and we all have our own memories to remember her by. Mine was the fact that she always smiled and then called my name and asked how i was doing. She was a loving and caring person, and i will personally miss that voice of hers calling my name across the walkway and asking "...dude, how are you doing..."

My son, Jonathon Kelley, went to school his Senior year with Monica. I first met her when I went as a chaparone with the class to the Dow Gardens. I had so much fun with Monica. And then again at the Saginaw Symphony that they sang in together. Jon is very tall and was always carrying Monica on his shoulders so that she could see everything. I have pictures of the two of them that he will treasure forever.

I met Monica only once at the mall in Lincoln during her college years to go shopping and have lunch; and then saw her around at LPA Nationals. The time I was around her, I could tell she had sparkle in her personality!!!! She is missed by many people!!!! RIP Monica and my heart goes out to her family, Roy, and friends.
