Mom, we already miss you so much - though we know you are much better off where you are now. Now you can walk the beaches, dip your feet in the water (you can even break ice to get your feet in the water like you used to in the winter!), pick rocks to your heart's content, looking for a "pretty one" - or many - to take home. You're together again with Dad, Aunt Clara, Uncle Sonny, your Mom and Dad and Aunt Shirley - and I bet you're having one heck of a big pasty-making day!
We were so shocked that you left us so soon, and that your passing was so sudden, but we know that you were not in pain, and we're glad for you that you didn't linger, living a life that you would not have enjoyed. You loved life too much for that.
You live on in each of us, every day, for the rest of our lives, and our children's and grandchildren's as well. Your pasty recipe will be made by your descendants forever. Your love of cobalt blue, lighthouses, traveling, Lake Superior and all things Michigan will stay with us always.
We love you, Mom. You've left a huge hole in our hearts by leaving so soon, but we know you're happy and healthy, and enjoying life the way you did in your younger days - and that's comfort enough.
