Robert Deane Acker

Robert Deane "Bob" Acker, age 82, of St. Louis, MI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Masonic Pathways, Alma, MI.

Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, St. Louis, MI, on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., with Deacon Rick Warner presiding. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Bob was born in Coe Township, Michigan on March 7, 1940, the son of Howard and Blanche (Shunk) Acker. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-1961. On June 11, 1960, Robert married Evelyn Mary Cotter at St. Peters Catholic Church, Mt. Clemens, MI. They were blessed with 62 years of marriage.

He worked on the farm his entire life. He retired from Bader and Sons in 2002. He was a creative man and had a knack for making things that made life and work easier. He liked tractor pulls, dune buggies, snowmobiles and motorcycles. In later years, he and Evelyn enjoyed traveling all over the country and their time spent in Zephyrhills, FL. But most of all he loved his family and spending time together.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn; four children: Rob (Leigh) Acker of Greenville, MI; Matthew Acker of Muskegon, MI; Scott (Kim) Acker of Ithaca, MI; and Victoria (Peter) Tacia of Alma, MI; eight grandsons, two granddaughters, and seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty Acker, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three siblings: Kenneth (Donna) Acker, Duane Acker, and Gordon Acker.
