Robert D. Getchell

1933 - 2022

Robert D. Getchell; age 88 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at his home surrounded by family. Bob was born June 11, 1933 the son of Albert and Evelyn (Kyser) Getchell. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, fishing, and camping at Fletcher's Pond in the Alpena area. Bob was a pretty good baseball pitcher in his younger years. He served honorably in the Army in the post Korean War efforts. Bob married Mary Wood in June of 1965. He worked for Morbark for 32 years. Going for walks on the farm and being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren always brought a smile to his face. Bob is survived by his wife Mary; 4 children Linda Getchell of Florida, Robert (Becky) Getchell Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Randy Getchell of Mt. Pleasant, and Richard Getchell of Mt. Pleasant; 5 grandchildren Robert (Brittany) Getchell III of Mt. Pleasant, Rachal (Brett) Hanner of Farwell, Brent Huff of Grand Rapids, Caden Mozurkewich of Mt. Pleasant, and Megan Getchell of Mt. Pleasant; 6 great grandchildren; sisters Evelyn Getchell of California, Patricia Reihl of Blanchard, Betty Maye of California, and Marian Bixby of Oil City; and several nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded by both his parents and siblings Joyce Zanter and John Getchell. Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life at a later date.
