Kowalski, Sarah Age 30; of Mt. Pleasant; passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017 at MidMichigan Health Alpena. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, August 19 at 11 a.m. at the Shepherd United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Spachman officiating. Sarah was born September 1, 1986 the daughter of Dave and Michelle (Gammage) Peters. She became a devoted nurse at Midland Hospital. Sarah married Kim Kowalski on June 13, 2015. Sarah loved all things outdoors that had to do with nature. She enjoyed fishing, camping, kayaking, camp fires, and just being with family and friends. Sarah loved cooking as well. She was a very giving person who genuinely cared about others. To know Sarah was to love her. Sarah very much loved her family and friends and especially her son Jacob. Sarah is survived by her husband Kim and her son Jacob; her parents Dave and Michelle; her sister Kristin (Matt) Norris of Wyandotte; her brother Josh (Kim) Peters of Grayling; grandparents Curt and Elaine Gammage of Charlotte; her four nephews Jordan, Jaden, Jason, and Joseph Peters; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sarah is preceded by her grandparents Tom and Mary Peters, and her uncle Dan Peters. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made towards her son Jacob's education. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Berry Funeral Home of Shepherd.

I actually think of Sarah and all of you quite often. Sarah was like a ray of sunshine in our classroom. She loved to learn and was always so eager to try new things. Dave, do you remember bringing the monarch butterfly chrysalises into our classroom? Sarah was so proud and excited to share them with the class!! Every time I see a butterfly, I think of your beautiful little girl. You all continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Sarah helping a little old lady to the bathroom and this lady was in her late 90,s and just wanted to die. She was kind of a mean old lady really she just wanted Sarah to get out of the room quickly after she went to the bathroom, I walked in after she was done taking her to the bathroom and somehow Sarah had that mean old lady smiling and singing it's a bright sunshiny day!! Although I haven't seen her since she was in high school or shortly after, she was always so kind and sweet. Whenever I did see her I always received the most friendly smile and a nice chat, just like the rest of her family.
