Steven Grim Obituary

Grim, Steven Lee Age 71 of Farwell, passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on June 16, 1947 the son of Charles and Virginia (Lewis) Grim in Edmore, Michigan. Steven married Lynn Laverty on June 28, 1969 at the Farwell United Methodist Church where they are still members today, and together they raised two children. As a life-long resident of Farwell, he taught math at Farwell Schools for 36 years and because of his love for his community, Steve served as Farwell Village Council Member & President for 40 years; was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Farwell Area Historical Museum. As a devout Christian, he was very active on multiple church boards and church activities. He loved spending winters in Florida with his many cherished friends. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Lynn; son, Nicholas Grim and wife Katie of Grand Blanc; daughter, Erica and husband Benjamin Cook of Ovid; five grandchildren: Benjamin Cook, Amelia Cook, Charlotte Grim, Natalie Grim, and Madelyn Grim; his brother, Charles "Bill" Grim and wife Linda of Cadillac; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Larry and Mignon Laverty, John and Jane Laverty of Farwell and his many numerous extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Virginia Grim; his father-in-law, Harold Whaley; mother-in-law, Olive (Laverty) Whaley and brother-in-law, Steve LJ Laverty. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 27, 2018 at Farwell High School, Jamie Performing Arts Cafetorium, 470 E. Ohio Street, Farwell, MI 48622. Family and friends are encouraged to visit from 11 AM to 2 PM prior to the service. Pastor Tom Ball, Pastor Connie Bongard, and Pastor Marty Cobb will officiate. Per Steven's request cremation has taken place. Please consider memorial contributions to the 'Grim Family', which will be distributed to Steven's favorite charities. Such a nice man. He always had a kind word and a warm smile that made you happy to be in his presence. I will miss seeing Steve playing shuffleboard and walking around the park with you, Lynn.
