Thomas Kenyon Obituary

Thomas LeRoy Kenyon, Sr., age 67, of Shepherd, Michigan, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center-Midland. Tom was born on January 24, 1944 in Midland, the son of Glenn Fairchild and Lila Belle (Babcock) Kenyon. Tom married the former Carol Hockemeyer on October 26, 1963 in Sanford, Michigan.
Tom was self-employed excavator, owning Kenyon Excavating for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors. Favorite pastimes included camping, fishing, hunting, riding quads and yard work. He always had a dog, and after losing his German Shepherd, he would take his golf cart to the neighbors house and take their dog for a ride. He was a lifetime resident of the area.
Survivors include his wife of almost forty eight years, Carol, three children: Thomas, Jr., Michael (Carmen Lile) Kenyon, and Bridget (Mark) Fairchild, all of Shepherd; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Tom's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date for family. Friends wishing to remember Tom have been asked to consider a contribution to the Kidney Foundation. Envelopes are available at the Rowley Funeral Home.

I only met Tom once when he was on vacation with his son in Florida. He was a very nice man, one I would have liked to get to know better. My prayers go out to his family, may God give you peace and comfort during this time.
