Jessie Mae Davis James

Jessie Mae Davis James, a Clothing Designer, entered into eternal rest at Oschner Medical Center Westbank on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the age of 75. She was a native of Loranger, LA and a resident of Harvey, LA. Jessie was a graduate of Hammond High School and The Vendon School of Design. Loving mother of Carolyn James and Kathy (Ken) Jones. Adopted mother of Deyounte and Reyounte James. Friend of Felipe Lopez. Daughter of the late J. D. Davis and Mary Dean Cyprian-Davis. Stepdaughter of the late Lena Davis. Granddaughter of the late Enyonce and Amy Davis. Niece of Laura Wilson of Miami, FL, who was instrumental in rearing her. Sister of Geraldine Davis (Melvin) Chanel and the late James, Leroy, Mac and Percy Davis, and Katherine Davis Smith. Lifelong friend of Camilla and Lucien Paul; also survived by 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Covenant Faith Ministries and all neighboring churches; employees and volunteers of CASA, OCS and MADD are invited to attend the Funeral Service at DAVIS MORTUARY SERVICE, 6820 WESTBANK EXPRESSWAY MARRERO, LA on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00a.m. Pastor Trenise Dunn, officiating.
