Gilbert Fonseca Obituary



PHARR/FREMONT: Gilbert Fonseca, 72, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at McAllen Heart Hospital.

Born and raised in Pharr, Gilbert lived in Fremont from 1987 to 2014, where he was employed by the Sandusky County Sheriff's Department as a correctional officer.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Claudia Jean Fonseca; his parents, Bernardo and Enedina Fonseca; and three siblings, Susie Rodriguez, Alicia Jackson, Bernardo Fonseca.

Mr. Fonseca is survived by two children, Cathy Fonseca and Eric (Amber) Fonseca, both of McAllen; a granddaughter, Kelsey Marie Fonseca; two great-grandchildren, Michael and Gianna Cooper, all of Fremont, Ohio; five siblings, Beatrice Fonseca, Yolanda Benavides, both of Pharr, Victor Fonseca, of Mission, Olivia Ortega, of Edinburg, Johnny Fonseca, of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. prayer service today, June 27, 2015, and from 3 to 9 p.m., with a 5 p.m. prayer service Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Cremation will take place at Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
