Robert Charles "Bob" Linke

Helena - Robert Charles "Bob" Linke, 71 of Helena, OH passed away on December 22, 2017 at home with his wife by his side after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 22, 1946 to Earl Charles and Eunice Mae (Hoesman) Linke. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon L. Woodings on December 22, 1968, they were married 49 years.

Bob attended Solomon Lutheran School, graduated from Woodville High School in 1964, and Gem City School of Horology in Quincy, Illinois. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970 as an instrument man aboard the USS Hector. He worked as a watchmaker at Klever's Jewelry Store in Bowling Green, Max Davis Jewelry Store in Toledo and Harvey Oaks Jewelry Store in Fremont. In 1978 he went on to work with his father at Linke's Wheel Alignment, Fremont, OH becoming owner-operator in 1981 until retiring in 2015.

Bob enjoyed going to antique shows, flea markets, watching old movies, taking day trips, boating and fishing on family vacations in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, woodworking, eating out, family get togethers and walking his dog Roxie. He especially loved being" Poppa" to his 3-year old twin grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife: Sharon of 49 years, daughters: Lindsay Linke of Woodville, Rachel (Roger) Swinehart Jr. of Fremont, twin grandchildren: Beckett and Braelynn Linke of Woodville, sisters: Nancy (Ken) Taylor of Elmore, Lisa (Tom) Floro of Elmore, brother-in-law: Tom Woodings of Woodville, nieces and nephews: Angela, Ryan, Zachary, Abbey, Ashley and Alex, great nieces and nephews: Katelyn, Nathan, Jace, Ethan, Bryson, Brady, Anabelle, Evelyn, Brielle and Nora. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents: Ed and Clara Linke and Irvin and Mabel Hoesman, father-in-law and mother-in-law: Thomas and Geraldine Woodings and step-mother: Dorothy (Schulte) Linke.

Always generous and giving, Bob chose to donate his body to the University of Toledo in the hope of being able to help others.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Promedica Home Health with a special thank you to our nurse Kelly who helped so much. Also, a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at Fostoria Promedica Cancer Center for the years of care and encouragement.

A memorial service will take place at a later date. Donations may be made in his memory to the Sandusky County Humane Society, 1315 North River Rd., Fremont, OH 43420 or Green Creek Wildlife Society, 949 County Road 42, Helena, OH 43435.
