Scott Boice Obituary

Scott Lee Boice

KANSAS: Scott Lee Boice, 45, lost his 25-year battle with brain cancer on Mon. Jan. 2, 2017, passing at his rural Kansas, Ohio home.

Born on May 25, 1971 in Tiffin, OH, Scott was the son of Nelson K. and Kathy M. (Phillips) Boice. Scott graduated from the Lincoln County High School in Fayetteville, TN in 1990 and obtained his Associate's Degree in Electronics from the Drake Technical School of Huntsville, AL in 1993.

While coping with the effects of his cancer treatment, Scott was able to work as a laborer at Pendergrass Lumber Company, Red Foods (Bilo) Grocery and finally at Benchmark Electronics in Huntsville where he was a repair technician. He worked there for 9 years until 2003 when the disease made working impossible.

Scott was, himself, a caregiver. He had an appreciation of children, especially those suffering from cancer. He will be remembered for donating toys and stuffed animals to area hospital. He was also close to his Lord, attending services at various churches where he lived. He had a love of his extended family and an extensive collection of Bugs Bunny memorabilia.

Surviving are his parents of Kansas, OH; sister, Sherri Boice-Block-Boardman of Mullberry, TN; grandmother, Betty Phillips of Gibsonburg, OH; uncle Charley (Judy) Phillips of Toledo, OH; aunt Jonnie (Shane) Haunhorst of Gibsonburg, OH; great-aunt Melva Powers of Risingsun, OH; and nieces and nephews Devin (Jessica) Block of Frankewing TN, Danielle Block of Reed City, MI, Delanie Block of Fayetteville, TN, Makaylie Boardman and Keera Madewell of Mullberry, TN; and great-nieces and nephews Kyle Block, Isaac Kingery, Raymond and Crystal Eichenberg; and many other devoted aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents, Cloyce Phillips and Harold and Kleta Boice; and aunt Sharon McDaniels.

Visitation will be Thurs. Jan. 5, 2017, 5-8 p.m., at the Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg, OH where Funeral Services will be Fri. Jan 6, 1 p.m. Burial will be at West Union Cemetery, Gibsonburg.
