Anna Buckman Obituary
Mrs. Buckman was retired from Federal Civil Service, Armor and Engineer Board, Fort Knox, after more than 30 years of service. She was also a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Leslie T. "Tommy" Buckman; her parents, Strother and Katharyn Whelan; her brothers, Raphael "Dee" Whelan and his wife, Elizabeth Ann, William Walter "Buck" Whelan and his wife, Margie, Charles B. "Horse" Whelan and Lee Earl Whelan; one grandson, Strother Dale McCombs; a brother-in-law, James A. Brown; her in-laws, John and Mary M. Buckman and Charles E. "Chickie" Buckman.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Ann McCombs and her husband, Joey; a son, Michael Thomas Buckman and his wife, Lisa; four grandchildren, Emily Katharyn Corbett and her husband, Travis (their children, Charlotte Anne, Hallie Marie and one on the way), Natalie Ann McCombs, Matthew Strother Buckman and his wife, Emily (their children, Adley Annette, Ace Thomas, Nash Strother and Lettie Kay), Olivia Jordan McCarty and her husband, Bryan (their children, Maddox Warren, Mallory Anne and Nixon Michael); three sisters, Mary Joetta Padgett, Frances Janette Brown and Rose Ellen Padgett and her husband, Marion; sisters-in-law, Mary Alma Whelan and Mary Magdalen Olson and her husband, Eddie; and a host of nieces, nephews, Godchildren, extended family and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held for Mrs. Buckman at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Flaherty. Burial will follow in St. Martin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, at Chism Family Funeral Home in Vine Grove.
A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Martin Cemetery Fund, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society or any other favorite charity of choice.
