Charles Edlin Obituary
He was a member of Salem Christian Church, retired owner and operator of Charlie's Barber Shop from 1986 to 2007 in downtown Hodgenville, a U.S. Navy veteran, having served four years in the Korean War, and a 1957 graduate of Tri City Barber College in Louisville. He was a longtime member of the DAV, American Legion, VFW and Lions Club and was a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Hagan Edlin Jr. and Patrick Neil Edlin; his parents, Ermine ""Shot"" and Edna Castleman Edlin; and a sister, Joyce Ann Edlin.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Mary Elizabeth Vaughn Edlin; a brother, Ronald Ray Edlin of New York; and several friends and neighbors.
The funeral is at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gordon McDowell and Brother Sid Lewis officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Graveside services with full military honors are at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
