David Brewer Obituary

David S. Brewer, 82, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.

A 1948 graduate of Hodgenville High School, he was employed with Houchens Market during the 1950s, an independent insurance agent from 1959 until his retirement in 1998 and also operated Lincoln Reality Company from 1970 to 1998. David's many hobbies and memberships included director of the Young People's Association for the Lynn Association, working with the youth at Middle Creek Baptist Church, where he also served as a former deacon. He was a member of BR Young Lodge No. 132 F&AM, a Gideon and former deacon at Friendship No. 2 Baptist Church and was also involved with the Jail Ministries for Hardin and LaRue counties. He was a current member of Central Avenue Baptist Church in Elizabethtown.

David was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Carrie Wade Brewer; two sisters, Clara Brewer and Christina Brewer; and three brothers, James Emmitt, Johnny and Arthur Brewer.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Juanita Hall Brewer; three daughters, Barbara Hill of Elizabethtown, Joan (the Rev. Steve) Hill of Glendale and Judy (Don) Stith of Magnolia; five granddaughters, Tammy (Scott) Etherton, Stephanie Hill, Tamara (Jeff) Hume, Melanie (Justin) Hart and Heather Hill; three great-grandchildren, Madi and Abbi Etherton and Ayden Hume; two sisters, Frances (George) Wheeler of Paris, Ky., and Alice Brown of Las Vegas; a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Sterling and Elaine Hall of Elizabethtown; and a special friend, Chicho.

The funeral is at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Gerald Gardner officiating. Burial follows in Valley Creek Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
