Geneva Wells Obituary

Geneva M. Wells, 90, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025, at her home in Buffalo.

She was born April 19, 1935, in Hodgenville, to her parents, Willie J. Nunn and Mildred Ward Nunn Marshall.

After raising her two sons and fully participating in their farm's dairy and tobacco operations, she began another career in food service. She prepared food for the children and staff at Buffalo Elementary School for 20 years. She then turned her attention to her home garden, collecting and tending to daylilies, iris, roses and other flowers. Many gardens across LaRue county have benefited from her generosity and sharing.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Lyford Wells; her parents; a sister, Vivian Rachel Nunn Johnson Straub; and a brother, Raymond Donald Nunn.

Survivors include two sons, Boyce R. Wells and Dennis Lee (Sheilah) Wells; two grandchildren, Aaron Chism and Megan Wells; two great-grandchildren, Landon Wells and Oakleigh Wells; a sister, Virginia (Steve) Becker of Omaha, Nebraska; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Brother Sid Lewis officiating. Burial follows alongside her husband in Buffalo Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and continues at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
