Kevin Dale Basham

Kevin Dale Basham, 49, of Chicago, Illinois, lost his battle with cancer Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.

A native of Hardin County, Kevin left behind many friends and family members. The youngest child of three, Kevin was born in Brandenburg in Meade County to Kenneth and Joyce Basham on Sept. 13, 1966.

After graduating from North Hardin High School in 1984, Kevin moved to Lexington and attended the University of Kentucky. While attending the school, he became manager at Sam Goody's Musicland music store. His love for music remained with him throughout his life. He accepted a job as district manager in Chicago and immediately he fell in love with the city. He spent the majority of his life in Chicago. Kevin never married but he created a circle of friends that became his family while away from his home. His friends held him in their hearts and called him every day when he returned home in July of this year. Kevin will truly be missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Basham.

Survivors include his mother, Joyce Basham of Radcliff; two sisters, Debbie (Jeff) Davenport of Custer and Dianna Basham of Rineyville; three nieces, Jessi, Amanda and Jaclyn; a nephew, Adam; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews.

The funeral is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. Burial follows in North Hardin Memorial Gardens in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continues at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
