Larry "Pat" Riley

Larry "Pat" Riley, 57, of Louisville, died Friday, Aug. 10, 2018.

Pat fought the good fight until he could not fight any longer. He passed just as he lived his life: with dignity and honor, on Aug. 10, the same date Pat and Cathy began their life together 27 years ago.

Pat was a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law, "PaPa" and uncle. He was a very humble man, who lived his life always putting others' needs above his own. He was a true southern gentleman.

Pat was preceded in death by his dad, Pete Riley; and his grandparents, Carrie and Lewis Vowels, Nancy Riley and his cherished Mary "Meme" Walker. Pat also was preceded in death by his in-laws, who adored him, Moe and Margaret Walsh and Jack and Cathy Hettinger.

Pat is survived by his mother, Marge Riley; his wife, Cathy; a stepdaughter, Stephanie Bennett (John); two sons, Ryan Duncan (Soosie) and Ben Duncan (Meredith); beloved grandchildren, Lucas, Kacey, Eli, Hanna, Ethan, Lilli and Isaiah, who was his partner in crime; one great-grandchild, Kaidynce; his sisters, Kim Cardin (Martin) and Shelia; a nephew, Taylor; a niece, Kristin Lay (Kenny); as well as his furry companions, Gabby, Maddi, and Josie.

Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, with a memorial service immediately following at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road, Louisville.
