Leon Cooper Jr.

Leon Cooper Jr., 90, born Oct. 20, 1935, in Paris, Texas, is a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran and man of faith whose life was firmly rooted in faith, family and country, died Thursday, March 19, 2026.

A Christian for more than 50 years, Leon's faith was the cornerstone of his life and his church family provided comfort and support. His faith guided his life and defined his character.

Leon honorably served his country, retiring from the U.S. Army as a proud veteran. He continued his service through a long and dedicated career in Army civil service, reflecting his lifelong commitment to duty and integrity.

He was the loving husband of Ingrid Maria Cooper, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage.

Together they built a life centered on faith, devotion and family.

Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Ingrid Cooper; his five children, Michael F. (Bertha), Christina, Ronald (Kelly), Richard (Tina) and Heather (Chris); his brother, James Cooper (Chantal); and his cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

Every memory of Leon reflects the values he held dear - faith in God, devotion to family and service to country. His legacy lives on through the generations he loved and the life he faithfully lived.

The funeral is at 12:30 pm Wednesday, April 1, at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff with the Rev. Brad Braudis officiating. Burial with military honors follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
