Michael England Obituary

Michael Anthony England, 70, of Radcliff, passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at Kindred Hospital in Louisville.

Mr. England was born June 9, 1954, in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, to the late Arthur and Ermena Reid England. He was of the Baptist faith. After graduating high school, Michael joined the military and served 15 years in the U.S. Army. During his military career, he received many medals and awards to include the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, The New Professional Development Ribbon, The Army Service Ribbon, The Overseas Service Ribbon and a M16 Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.

After his military tour, Michael continued to serve the government as a security guard at the Fort Knox military installation. He served in this capacity for 18 years, receiving the Civil Service Commendation Medal. Michael enjoyed traveling the country and protecting it in both his military and civil service roles for a total of 33 dedicated years.

Michael had a genuine, caring, servant's heart and was well known for volunteering and giving back to the community whenever possible. He was a member of VFW and enjoyed being an ambassador for the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce. He spent many days assisting the underserved at Warm Blessings soup kitchen and Feeding America, as well as volunteering with the local nonprofit The Legacy Foundation. Michael also loved to research, draw, tinker, plant and nurture his yard and was fondly known as "Dirt Man" or Uncle Mike by those who knew him best.

In addition to his parents, Mr. England was preceded in death by three sisters, Deloris Kaiser, Blondell Williams and Barbara Bowens.

He leaves to cherish his memories, the love of his life, Brenda R. Thompson of Radcliff; a son, Andre England of Radcliff; three grandchildren; a special great-niece, Aubrey Payne; his beloved fur baby, Mal; and a host of treasured nieces, nephews, grands and other relatives. He also leaves behind a multitude of friends from all around the world and a few very special friends, Eugene Cockrell II, Deric Hunter and Pam Harper, who all remained by his side during his illness.

The funeral for Mr. England is at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at Percell & Sons Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Burial with full military rites follows in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

I was plain...he was peanut...we was M&M! Working many years with this man, was a pleasure. He knew how important his job was, but it did not mean he couldn't derive some enjoyment from it. Rest In Peace, friend.

England was always smiling, always had such and infectious laugh, and he always made people smile. It was a pleasure to know you my friend. It´s been several years now since we worked together on the gates. You will never be forgotten. With all my love to the England family. We will be praying for you all.
