Michael Patrick Soult, 54, was born July 29, 1969, in Fort Knox, and his 18-month journey with pancreatic cancer ended Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, at home in Lexington surrounded by his family.
We were fortunate to have that time for more holidays and trips, more family meals and events and just more time together. But he couldn't take more pain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce Soult (2020) and Robert Soult (2023); and his mother-in-law, Lucinda Strange (1990).
Survivors include his wife, Allison Strange Soult (married Dec. 28, 1996); his three daughters, who were his pride and joy, Megan Lucinda Soult, Isabelle Ann Soult and Elinor Braden Soult, all of Lexington; and his brother and tailgate partner, David Christopher Soult of Radcliff. He also leaves behind his father-in-law, Jerome Strange of Bardstown; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Travis and Lori Strange of Berea; a nephew, Garth Strange (Cassidy Cox) of Lexington; and many family and friends, near and far. Despite saying we would not be getting a dog, he leaves behind Phoebe, four granddogs and Gunner, who "found" Mike and then never left his side.
To say Mike was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Louisville Cardinals would be an understatement. He loved camping, fishing and hiking, whether alone or with family and friends. Were it not for Lori's epiphany to introduce him to Allison, he wouldn't have had what he loved the most. He knew when Allison said "I have an idea for..." he should get his shoes on and be ready to go get supplies for the project. Although he might have said otherwise, he loved watching his girls perform and compete in band, archery, dance and any other activities they pursued. He always went all in to do whatever needed to be done for them or any group they were a part of. He did the same in his work, as a manager at Wendy's for 10 years and as food service manager at Harrison Elementary cafeteria for 12 years, where he was known to the kids as Mr. Mike.
