Michael Bruce Tigges

1944 - 2023

Retired Chief Warrant Officer Michael Bruce Tigges, 79, passed away Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at his home in Radcliff.

Michael was born July 24, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Bernard and Catherine Tigges.

He attended Ohio State University until he joined the Army to serve his country. He later completed his education at McKendree College, earning his Bachelors in Business Administration.

A 36-year Army veteran, his specialty was logistics and he served as property officer at many locations around the globe. He served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Desert Storm. After retiring from the Army, he was a deputy for the Hardin County Sheriff's Department for 10 years.

A dedicated amateur radio operator, he was a member of the Hardin County Amateur Radio Emergency Communications Group. He also served as state director for the Kentucky Military Amateur Radio, MARS.

He was a member of Vine Grove Lodge No. 603 and Scottish Rite. He enjoyed the time he spent as a North Hardin band dad when his sons were band members. He enjoyed his church family at Radcliff United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Elizabethtown Emmaus Community. But most of all he enjoyed time with his grandsons.

Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Suzanne Tigges; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and his wife, Mary, of Parker, Colorado, and Shawn and his wife, Erin, of Wilmore; three grandsons, Zachary and Alex of Parker and Jared of Wilmore.

A celebration of life is at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Radcliff United Methodist Church with the Revs. Randy Jones and Darren Gillespie officiating. A committal service with military honors follows at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nelson-Edelen-Bennett Funeral Home in Radcliff. There will be no visitation Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Radcliff United Methodist Church Building Fund or Parkinson's Research.
