Sandra Smeltzer
July 2, 2016
Although I never knew Katie, she and I corresponded occasionally over the past couple years because, while I was doing genealogical work, I discovered she was alive and well in Florida. Katie's husband Bob was my uncle; however, for a number of reasons my brothers and I grew up never knowing the Smeltzer side of our family. In a phone conversation, Katie and I shared that we were both members of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority--she at Allegheny College and me at Syracuse--which pleased each of us, and I had hoped one day to travel to Florida to meet her. All who loved her, please accept my condolences.
