Dr. Tamayo also trained at Fort Lewis, Washington, to become a clinical neuro-psychologist and went on to teach and train future U.S. Army Medical Corp. clinical psychologists.

While serving in Manheim, Germany, Fred met his future wife, Beverly, for the first time. They would later meet again, 10 years later and marry at Fort Gordon, Georgia, where she was in the Army Nurse Corp.

After retirement, Dr. Tamayo moved his family to Radcliff and worked for Communicare at Radcliff, Brandenburg and Elizabethtown clinics. He also taught for the following universities, Boston University, Sullivan University, Western Kentucky University and Elizabethtown Community College.

He was preceded in death by his father, Maj. Frederic Tamayo, U.S. Army Infantry and a World War II Philippino Scout; his mother, Prsicilla Velez Tamayo; his sister, Cpt. Rita M.K. Tamayo, U.S. Army; and Baby Tamayo.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Morton Tamayo; a daughter, Dr. Kelsey Tamayo and her husband, SP4 Jonathan Staub; a sister-in-law, Jennifer Foster Vanaernam; and a number of nephews and nieces.
