Catherine Dunn Obituary

Catherine Lavonne Dunn, age 94, passed away peacefully September 21, 2025, at her home in Epworth.
Catherine was born December 17, 1930, in McCaysville.
Catherine was a devoted Christian and a virtuous woman, whose faith and compassion touched the lives of many in her community. A dedicated homemaker, she was known for her love of cooking and often opened her home to family and friends and would often insist on sharing a meal with her. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own family, as she had a deep commitment to teaching, particularly through her many years of leading Vacation Bible School, where she inspired countless children to embrace their faith. Catherine graduated high school at the remarkable age of 15.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband; Lake Dunn, parents; Robert and Dixie Walden, brother, Fred (Hilda) Walden, and sister Barbara (Marvin) Sanford.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Judy) Dunn; her brother, Arthur Walden; her sister, Addie Barnes; her beloved granddaughters, Tracy (Scott) Ganues and Angie (Tim) Verhine; and her precious great-grandchildren, Jacob Verhine, Haley (Graham) True, Michalea Verhine, and Amelia Ganues. Each of them will carry forward the values she instilled, along with their treasured memories of her warmth and grace.
Catherine's family welcomed friends and loved ones to join them in celebrating her life. Visitation was held at Lebanon Baptist Church September 25, 2025, from noon until 2 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Tim Verhine officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers; Jacob Verhine, Wayne Watkins, Darryl Walden, Scott Ganues, Nathan Chancey, Rich Terricone, John Chastain and Morris Callihan.
The following served as honorary pallbearers: Al Patterson, Delmar Davenport, Charlie Welham, Dr. David Drake and Robert Sosebee.
Interment followed in the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Catherine's memory to the Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Catherine Lavonne Dunn will be remembered not only for her unwavering faith and love but also for the countless lives she touched with her kindness and generosity. As we gather to honor her memory, we celebrate a life well-lived and the eternal impact she made on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
