Randall Hughes Obituary

Randall Joseph (R.J.) Hughes, age 69, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025, at his home in Morganton.
He was born October 3, 1956, in Blue Ridge, to Coyet Hughes and Evelyn Stanley Hughes. He was proud to be from the Dial area. Randall was a proud North Georgia mountain man who exemplified dedication and resilience throughout his life.
R.J. enjoyed a successful career as a truck driver, accruing an astonishing three million miles without an accident or ticket. No matter where the truck took him, coming home to Blue Ridge was the goal.
His unwavering commitment to his profession was only matched by his love for his family. He cherished every moment spent with his adored grandchildren, Shelby and Coleman Pritchett, who brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his family, Randy had a passion for NASCAR, embracing the thrill of the sport and sharing that enthusiasm with those he loved. He loved history, old music, Being an East Fannin Wildcat and being born and raised in Dial, Georgia.
R.J. is survived by his precious daughter, Mollie (Terry) Pritchett; adored son, Ben Hughes; cherished grandchildren, Shelby and Coleman Pritchett; his best friend and companion for life, Barbara Hughes; siblings, sister Glenda (Herman) Stokes, and brother Joey (Sabrina Woody) Mullinax.
In honor of R.J.'s memory, funeral services were held at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home Blue Ridge Chapel November 6, 2025, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Tim Garrett and the Reverend Shawn Mashburn officiating.
The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Joey Mullinax, Kelly Towe, Keith (Rat) Tipton, Jeff Wallace, Chris Hughes, and David Head.
Kim Corn, Johnny Walker, and Charles Hughes Lifelong friends, served as honorary Pallbearers, along with son Ben Hughes.
The family received friends at Cochran-McDaniel Funeral Home in Blue Ridge November 5, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Following the funeral service, R.J. was laid to rest at Sugar Hill Cemetery in Suches, Georgia.
Randall Joseph Hughes will forever be remembered for his unwavering spirit, love, and dedication to those he held dear. May his legacy continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
