Ward Allen Obituary

Mr. Ward Ramsay Allen Sr., age 82, of Virgil View Lane, Young Harris, Georgia, passed away, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness.
Born January 14, 1942, in Daytona Beach, Flordia, he was the son of the late Charles Myron Allen and Kathryn Ramsay Allen.
Ward was a man of many passions, with a profound love for fishing, traveling, and his cherished West Highland White Terriers. He was a member of Sharp Memorial Church, where he found community and fellowship.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 55 years, Sandra Van Gundy Allen of Young Harris; one daughter and son-in-law, Kristan and Michael Bagley of Chattanooga, along with their children, Chandlar M. Bagley, Cecelia L. Bagley, Roman Bagley, Tatiana Bagley, and Anastasia Bagley. He also leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Ward and Kimberly Allen Jr. of Cornelia, Georgia, and their children, McLean J. Allen, Quinn H. Allen, and Ward Ramsay Allen III (Tripp), and Russell Allen and Jeannie Chacko and their son Noah Arthur Chacko-Allen of Brookhaven, Georgia. Ward also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date at Sharp Memorial Church, with details to be announced.

Ward was very dear to me and he will be missed very much. I have many wonderful and laugh filled memories of this kind man and I will always be thankful that I had the pleasure of getting to know this kind, funny, and warm man. He told me so many stories about his children, grand children, Sandy, and about himself. I remember the very first time I met him...

Uncle was deeply kind and generous. He always knew how to make everyone giggle, feel at ease and good about themselves. He knew how to have an adventure and wanted to ensure everyone else did too. For example waking up at the crack of dawn to get on the Good Morning America show, enduring the awful London weather to find the annual Harrods bear or dress up for the Christmas sing along, Uncle Ward was always bringing soul of the party energy. When he talked to you he made you feel like he really cared about you and what he shared always felt authentic and genuine. Never perfunctory or performative with Uncle Ward. Whether we were in London, Reading, Atlanta or New York he turned things into true belly laughs and fun.

Uncle Ward was an incredible Uncle. He and Auntie Sandy came to visit us many times in London. It was always such a highlight. Uncle Ward was so kind and caring and always took such an interest in what was going on in our lives. I always felt so loved when we had our deep chats.

I got to spend a few months at their home during my gap year which was such a precious time to make more memories. I can never forget how generous Uncle Ward was and what a family man was.
He was so loyal and genuine. He also had a great sense of humour. He also used to make me laugh when he would make the 'girls' (the Westies) bark by pretending there was a squirrel at the window.

I was so so sad to find out that Uncle Ward passed away but I am so grateful that he is with Jesus in heaven. I love you so so much Uncle Ward! I wish that I had gotten to see you one last time before you passed away! xxx Rachel and Tobias

Ward and I were friends for over 30 years. We were able to go on many business trips together, as well as conferences. Ward was one of the most positive people I have known. Ward and Sandy “mama” made the perfect team. Ward truly loved his dogs, even though some drank beer and wine. Ward will be missed by many but the memories I have of Ward will continue to bring a smile to my face. Susan and I sending uplifting prayers to Sandy and the family.

It’s hard to say farewell to your oldest friends, that have been a part of your life and family for so many years. Ward was so blessed to have his family supporting him and visiting him so often. I know he loved and cherished everyone of them. We never spoke that he didn’t share a story about one or more of the Grandchildren. We were lucky to have been able to visit with Ward, Sandy and Ramsay in June. He was looking forward to going home at the time. So glad he was able to have accomplished it, his way
