Lillian Avery Obituary
Funeral services for Lillian Lenard Peters Avery, 87, of Monroe, will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Warren Eckhardt and Rev. David Worthington officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
Mrs. Avery was born on May 25, 1926 and died peacefully in her sleep on October 15, 2013 in Monroe, LA. She was a wonderful Mother and devoted Christian who loved people and her Lord. She was President of the Winsome Class for years and a long time member of North Monroe Baptist Church in Monroe. She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Peters; husband and father of her children, Cecil Peters; and her husband, Ray Avery.
She is survived by her daughters: Carole Becton and husband, Bill, Sandi Russell and husband, Rob, Sherri Traylor, and Debbie Wills and husband, Don; son: Ken Peters and wife, Gayle; sisters: Ruth Long and Minnie Phegly; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be: Nathan Traylor, Chris Cox, Andy Russell, Todd Peters, and Jim Bergemann.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.

I got to know "Miss Lillian" when we served on the Special Events Committee at North Monroe Baptist Church. She was a faithful worker on that committee. "Miss Lillian" was a truly beautiful Christian Southern lady.

Dear Family,
My husband and I just moved across the street from your mom a few months ago. We met a few our new neighbors ,including Mrs. Avery outside one morning . We looked forward to getting to know her better.
I then had an opportunity to speak to her once again outside while dragging in the garbage can and again on the phone. In just the few conversations I had with your mom I knew she was proud of her family and loved our God.
We just learned of her passing and are so very sorry for your loss, Please accept our condolences.

My heart is sad this morning as I just read of the passing of this sweet lady. She was a precious friend to me when we lived in Monroe and were members of North Monroe Baptist Church. Love and prayers for the family, especially my friends Sherri and Carole.
