Robert Frith Obituary

Robert Kenneth Frith

Memorial Service for Robert Kenneth Frith, 66, of Lake Providence, LA will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Harvest Assembly of God in Oak Grove, LA. Brother Bill Bearden will officiate the services.

Kenneth Frith was born to James and Rosa Lee Frith on December 1, 1948 in Lake Providence, LA and passed away on February 22, 2015. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents James and Rosa Lee Frith, brother Charles Frith, sister-in-law Ruby Frith, brother-in-law Ronnie Cummings, and mother-in-law Hazel Hollister.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pam Cummings Frith, daughters, Samantha Crawford and husband Craig, Niki Hagan and husband Stephan; sons, John David Frith and wife Alane, and Toby Frith and wife Rachel. He is also survived by eight precious granddaughters, Katie, Marron and Sarah Frith, Callie Rose and Kate Crawford, Maggie and Lila Anne Frith, and Mary Louise Hagan. Other survivors include sister and brother-in-law Louise and Joseph Martin; sister and brother-in-law Annette and Sammy Yates; brother Floyd Frith; sister-in-law Deanna Frith Mew and husband Danny; brother-in-law Donnie Cummings and wife Judy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was a 1966 graduate of Lake Providence High School. He attended Northeast Louisiana University, where he played Defensive Tackle for the Indians. Kenneth was named All-American during his playing time at NLU. Kenneth was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1971. He later played football in the Canadian League, where he earned All-Pro Honors and led his team to the Gray Cup (the Canadian version of the Super Bowl). In February 1990, Kenneth was inducted to the Northeast Louisiana University Athletic Department's Hall of Fame. He was also named on NLU's 50 years Golden Anniversary Team.

After his football career ended, Kenneth became a farmer. After farming for several years, he became involved in the agricultural sales arena, where he retired as a manager of an agricultural supply business. During his time in agricultural sales he excelled, winning numerous top sales awards such as the Gold Merit Award of the Southeast United States Region for several years running.

Kenneth led a very successful life on the football playing field and in his career with sales. His motto was "Be the best, or don't get out of bed". However, he would proudly tell you that his wife, children, and precious grandgirls were "his silver & gold". He will be remembered for his larger than life personality and his infectious smile and laughter. His family is blessed to treasure a lifetime of memories with their "Papa". They enjoyed working hard and playing hard with him.

True to Kenneth's personality, his body has been donated to science. In lieu of flowers, donate money to a perfect stranger which was one of Kenneth's favorite things to do. Make someone's day!

I played in the Louisiana High School All Star Football game in Baton Rouge in August, 1966, with Kenneth. Terry Bradshaw was our quarterback in that game. Later, Kenneth, W. J. Erwin and myself reunited. We had great times telling stories about our playing days. I just found out about his death and am so sorry. He died so young. It is hard to believe.

Mr. Kenneth was a great man. He had the amazing ability to make the person he was talking to feel like the most important person in the world. When I was a boy, a conversation with Mr. Kenneth would leave me feeing like I could accomplish anything. I saw him just a couple of months ago and he told me how proud he was of me, and it still made me feel really good. I will sorely miss him, but he is leaving behind a wonderful family that inherited some of his best traits.

Kenneth was not just a talker, he was a doer. I will never forget the night that Rise and I was officiating basketball games at Pioneer. After the games my truck would not crank. This was before cell phones and Kenneth say our need and drove us home to Delhi. All he would take was our thanks. This is the kind of deeds he did for people. We did not have to ask. Kenneth will be remembered for the friend he was. My sympathy for your loss and we will continue to pray for your family

I saw Kenneth and Pam in the Dallas Airport in 1996 or 97. I was in line behind him and although I didn't personally know him I spoke to him and told him I was at NLSC when he played football there. We talked and he invited me to have lunch with he and Pam. We ate lunch and talked for almost two hours. He paid for my lunch. I found he and Pam to be warm and friendly. They left for Kalispell and I left for Sacramento. I was returning to Monroe a week later and ran into he and Pam in Salt Lake City. I bought their lunch and we visited a couple of hours. He was one of the friendliest people I have ever met and very generous. Rest in Peace Ken you will be missed.

My mother loved Kenneth Frith. He visited her store often by the steel bridge east of Epps. He would make her laugh often. Once I was at a football game, Ouachita Christian Vs Oak Grove. One of the OG player got a tooth knocked out. Kenneth came down out of the stands, and told the player in a loud cheerful voice, "Son, now you look like a football player." A very lively man. I regret that I didn't know him better. Prayers for his wife and family.

One of a human's greatest gifts is to make others feel better about themselves. When one encountered Kenneth Frith and visited with him, if only for a few moments, that person felt better about him/herself and life. Many people possess this Godly gift, but few take the time or energy to use it. Thank you Kenneth for giving so much of yourself to your fellow human beings. I pray for your family because I know how much they will miss you, but they will be greatly comforted in knowing your memory will be alive in so many ways. God bless you, Pam, children, grands, brothers, and sisters.

Losing Kenneth is like losing a brother. From a small community we did a lot of things as a family. Picking cotton, picking and putting up our gardens as they came in. Their house one day ours the next. Going on fishing day trips. My Dad and Mr James catching the fish and cooking on the river bank. Playing cards when our kids were small. Just to many to tell. My heart felt sorrow to the family.
