Funeral Services for Mrs. Ruby M. Nelson, 97, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 22, 2011 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Rev. Phillip Smith and Dr. Woods Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Drew Cemetery in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Nelson was born on February 10, 1914 in Monroe, LA and passed away on September 19, 2011 in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of First West in West Monroe, LA, where she was a member of the Mary Martha Life group. Mrs. Ruby and her first husband owned Ligget's Drug Store in Alexandria, LA before his passing. She then moved back to West Monroe and married Charles C. Nelson. Mrs. Nelson enjoyed playing cards with family and watching religious programs on television.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Byron F. and Ella May Bryan Henry; her first husband, James Gammack; her second husband, Charles C. Nelson; 3 brothers, Russell Henry, Dayton Henry and Byron F. Henry Jr.; and 2 sisters, Dorothy Dean and Sue Gober.

Survivors include her brothers, Donald F. Henry and Billy Henry and wife, Dianne both of West Monroe, LA; her sister, Barbara Battaglia of West Monroe, LA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nelson's nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to the First West Building Fund.
