Patti, I just reread Tony's obituary and your beautiful poem to him. I have tears in my eyes as I reflect on the beautiful love you two had for each other. Tony was such an honored and accomplished man. I feel especially sad as I read about your loneliness when darkness comes each night and Tony is not there to hold you.
God bless you as you face each day with Tony in heaven and you awaiting the time God calls you home to be with him.
Love,
Carol

My heart is heavy tonight. As I lie awake with my family close at hand... I'm so grateful to the veterans who gave their lives for our freedom! As I begin my evening prayer & try not to "sweat the small stuff" & focus on what is truly important....I am humbled!
One particular veteran is at the forefront of my mind along with his family. They celebrated his life today (I'm so sorry I was not able to attend)! He was a true American hero!
I had the amazing honor of knowing him as a teenager & as an adult. While serving in Vietnam, he was decorated for Valor with a Bronze Star and Oak Leaf Cluster. He went on to be a Winnebago County Sheriff.
He had a heart for God and fiercely loved his family! His eyes lit up when he said his daughters' names or talked about his grandchildren. I loved hearing about all his vacations/trips with his wife... He had such joy in his voice as he talked about his family. He came & visited with his sister during her chemo treatments on days when he wasn't receiving his own. He was loved by many and touched so many lives!
This is....a true American Hero!
Patti, Maggie, Kate, Pat - I'm sorry for your loss & sorry I wasn't their to give you support/hugs today while you celebrated his life! My thoughts & prayers were with you today. I will continue to pray for each of you and your families! God Bless!

It breaks my heart to see another veteran pass. He will forever be remembered in the Oshkosh High/West Veterans' Honor Hall for his sacrifices.

I went to high school with Tony, but didn't know him well. After reading his obituary, I realized he was married to my second cousin. My deepest sympathy to Patti, her mom, Marilyn, and to their entire family. God Bless.

I am so sorry for your lost. I joined the Sheriff's Dept in Nov of 1989 in the 911 Center. I don't recall working with him on the road but I remember him being in Administration and I would pop in his office from time to time for a quick joke. Prayers for your family
