Betty Burns Obituary

Betty Eleanore Burns, age 89, died peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2014 at KindredHearts of Green Lake.

She was born July 16, 1924 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Leighton "Bud" and Elsie Laatsch Jones. Betty was a graduate of Waukesha High School. On March 4, 1943, she was united in marriage to James Burns in Columbia, SC.

Betty was a custodian at Clay Lamberton Elementary School. She also worked at Ripon Good Cookie and Stokley-Van Camp. She was a member of United Methodist Church for over 50 years.

She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Paula Burns and Lori Burns; grandchildren, Cindy Burns, Amanda Seaman, Emily Burns and Thomas Burns; sister, Barbara Spencer; and sister-in-law, Elinor Jones. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James, in August 1979; sons, Seth Burns and John Burns III; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice (Kenneth) Parker, Bernadine (Larry) Wagenius and Evelyn (Ralph) Poulero; brother, Lavern Jones; and brothers-in-law, Morris Spencer and John J. (Betty) Burns Jr.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Berlin, the Rev. Aaron Alfred officiating. Inurnment will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola Funeral Chapel of Berlin.
