Coda, Celia

Celia V. Coda (Bednarek), age 95, of Ripon, formerly of Princeton, passed away on July 13, 2012 at Barrett House Assisted Living Facility in Ripon. She was born on November 10, 1916 in Princeton, a daughter of John A. and Josephine (Siekierka) Bednarek. In 1940, Celia married Sylvester Coda at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton. Together they started farming and raised a family in rural Princeton. Celia continued farming after Sylvester's early death in a farming accident in 1967. She grew hay and raised feeder pigs to sell, all the while working at the American Baptist Assembly of Green Lake as a housekeeper until her retirement. She was also a part-time beautician, working for Thecla Oestreich, her lifelong friend. Celia loved flowers, gardening and cooking. She was a devout Catholic, a lifelong member of the Rosary and Altar Society. She often donated her time and baked goods to the church bake sales and for the St. John's Polish picnic.

Celia is survived by her three children, Robert (Judith) Coda of Beaver Dam, Anne (Charles) Zamzow of Oshkosh, John Coda of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, Wyatt (Lindsey) Zamzow of Whitefish Bay, Jodi (Brian Goodman) Coda of Horicon, Steven (Brenda Eckmayer) Coda of Beaver Dam, Aaron (Sarah McLaughlin) Zamzow of Fitchburg, Brian (Jessica) Coda of Madison; 5 great grandchildren, Nathan Coda, Arik Koch, Hannah Coda, Zachary and Dylan Zamzow; sister, Marie Wick of Fond du Lac; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester; one child in infancy and 6 brothers.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Celia V. Coda will take place on Thursday, July 19, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton with Father Dale Grubba officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.Please visit our website www.wachholzandsons.com to send online condolences to the family.



A memorial has been established to Agnesian Hospice Hope, 745 South St., Suite 4, Green Lake, WI 54941. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Agnesian Hospice Hope; Barb, Staff and the residents of the Barrett House for their wonderful care and companionship.
