Elizabeth Louise Gunther, 86, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully into heaven on March 11, 2016 at Riverside Hospital in Waupaca. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph Franklin Gunther. She was born on September 16, 1929 in Lyons, IL. to the late Giovanni and Clara Meschi.

Elizabeth was a member of the Women's Club at St. Barabara's Church. She will be remembered as a happy and devoted mother, caring for her children as a young widow. Elizabeth loved children and she was exceptionally kind to them. She enjoyed spending time with young people and they loved being near her.

Elizabeth worked as an Administrative Secretary employed by GM Electromotive in McCook, IL.. Consolidated Foods in Chicago, IL., and Motorola Defense Division in Mesa, AZ. She was also an editor for the Carmelite Sword Periodical, working with Fr. Kevin Finbar Shanley at Aylesford.

Elizabeth loved the Arizona Desert while residing in the towns of Scottsdale and Tucson, AZ. She also enjoyed the beaches on the Pacific Ocean in San Diego County while visiting her son for extended stays. Her pastimes were knitting, sewing, and assembling puzzles.

Elizabeth is survived by her 2 sons, Gregory Gunther of Oshkosh and Ralph (Lavergne) Gunther, Jr. of Wautoma. Elizabeth leaves 4 grandchildren; Frank, Grace, Jenny, and April; and 15 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings, Esther Phillips, Eleanor Duka, Dorothy Duranty, Delores Clinkert, Mary Pasekel, John Meschi, Charles Meschi, and Deane Meschi ;along with numerous nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law Marie Paskvan.

She is preceded in death by her siblings; Patricia Hitzman, Richard Meschi, and Joseph Meschi.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetary in Forest Park, IL. In lieu of flowers a contribution to Betty's Burial Fund is appreciated.

Elizabeth was a very gracious and happy person to all who knew her. Mom is profoundly missed and endearingly lives in our warm memories of her.
