James Warwick Obituary

James Warwick

Oshkosh - The family of JAMES DOUGLAS WARWICK announce his passing from this life to be reunited with his Savior. Parkinson's and death no longer have a hold on him. Jesus said "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die," John 11:25.

Jim was born in Milwaukee, WI to Floyd and Lucie (Brown) Warwick on July 25, 1938 and resided in Oshkosh at the time of his death. He graduated from Pulaski High School in 1957 and obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Milwaukee Technical College in 1967.

His family includes his wife, Joan (Jenkins) Warwick to whom he was married for 49 years, his children; Jennifer (Mark) Lancourt, Miles, Michael (Karen), and Andrew (Theresa) Warwick. He is also survived by his sister; Marlys Trinwith, brother; Russell (Rose) Warwick, two sisters-in-law; Barbara Carda and Janet Warwick, eight grandchildren; Matthew (Corrine) Lancourt, Jonathan Lancourt, Megan (Warwick) Monko (Tim), Colin, Jeordie, Cassius, Lucille, and Mavis Warwick, and two great-granddaughters; Marlee and Charlotte Lancourt, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lucie (Brown) Warwick, two brothers; Robert and Donald, and two nieces Terrilyn and Gail.

Jim retired from the United States Naval Reserve as a Senior Chief Petty Officer serving for 20 years in the Seabees (Construction Battalion). He was the Training Director for the Wisconsin Operating Engineers Apprenticeship program in Coloma, WI (part of the International Operating Engineers of which he was a member for more than 50 years) from its inception.

He designed and assisted with the building of an earth sheltered home in Redgranite, WI where he and family lived for over 40 years. Jim served on the Waushara County Board of Adjustments for 27 years, helping to better the community in which he lived. He was also a leader in faith as a Trustee and Elder for numerous years at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI.

His hobbies were of an outdoor nature, with hunting and fishing at the top, spending time with his grandchildren and restoring old tractors and machines. Traveling was another love, along with his gardening. Many relatives will never forget their experience in making apple cider!

The family would like to thank Bella Vista for all the care and concern given to both Jim and Joan, Ascension Visiting Nurses Hospice for the sensitivity and helpfulness shown by their staff and to Pastor's Koepsell and Hayman from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church for their continued presence in his life with many visits and Communion.

A private family service will be held. Special thanks to Pastor Mark Meier, former Pastor of Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi, WI for officiating. In lieu of flowers, Jim had requested any memorials be in the form of donations to either Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Oshkosh (debt retirement) or Ascension at Home Hospice.

Joan & family, Craig & I remember all our visits with Jim at Bella Vista. It was always a joy to see him. Many times at the supper table. My dad, Art and Jim were often times visited & were commuted together. They are now celebrating Christmas together. Our Christian sympathy. May God give you all peace & comfort at this time.

I will always remember Mr.Warwick as a kind, funny man. I remember going to visit him with my grandpa (Ralph Groth). May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.
