Kenneth Weiske
Berlin - Kenneth Charles Weiske passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 26th, 2021. Ken was born October 5th, 1930 in Montello, WI to Charles & Winifred Weiske. He graduated from Berlin High School in 1948 and married his high school sweetheart, Marcella "Marcie" Bahr on November 4th, 1950. They were happily married for nearly 65 years.
Ken spent his career at Midwestern Sport Togs in Berlin, where he started working after high school until being drafted to serve his country in Korea in 1951. There, he was promoted to Staff Sargent. He was discharged from Korea in 1953 and resumed to his employment with Midwestern. During the 1960's, he and fellow employees, Tom Gonyo and Gerhardt Eggert purchased the Berlin Glove Company which included the Midwestern division. In 1987 they sold the company and Ken retired.
He spent his retirement years helping his adult children with anything and every including cutting and splitting many years of firewood. He and Marcie also volunteered much of their time at church decorating for Christmas, serving beef dinners, and painting the classrooms at St. Joseph's. Ken was and avid hunter and fisherman. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and we were lucky to have him in our lives for 90 years.
He is survived by his children Carrie Gerretson, Angie (Steve) Griggel, Martin (Jill) Weiske, grandchildren, Andrew Fox, Andrew (Anna) Griggel, Adam (Amy) Griggel, Jennifer Griggel, Evan (Marie) Weiske and Nora (Alex) Andrews, great grandson, Lincoln Griggel, sister, Karlyn (Harold) Robeson and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcie, and his youngest son, Paul, his parents, Charles and Winifred Weiske, his in-laws, Martin and Sophie Bahr, brother Kermit "Doc" (Lois) Weiske, brother-in-law's, Art (Millie) Bahr and Bob (Jeanette) Bahr.
Private family graveside services will be held at Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Ken's name to All Saints Catholic Church of Berlin, or to Alzheimer's research. We love you and will miss you, Dad and Grandpa! We will see you again.
