Nancy Voss Obituary

Nancy C. Voss

Oshkosh - Nancy Carol Voss, 82, of Oshkosh, passed away at Aurora Medical Center on Sunday, January 24, 2021. She was born on September 1, 1938 to the late Elmer and Lucille (Bloedow) Voss.

Nancy enjoyed her first job as a switchboard operator at Wisconsin Bell for many years. Imagine all the interesting conversations she overheard! Nancy's love showed through her cooking. She worked as a cook at Grace Lutheran School and Faith of a Child daycare for a combined total of 30 years. She knew every child by name and treated them as if they were her own, giving her favorites 2nd helpings!

Nancy was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years, and later in life became a member of Living Water Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her brothers, Lyle (Dorothy) Voss and Larry Voss; a sister, Patricia Tellock; a sister-in-law, Helen Voss; nieces and nephews, Stacie, Steven, Morgan, Erron, Shannon, Perrin, Jon, Tiffany, and Brett. Although Nancy didn't have biological children, she treated her nieces and nephew as if they were her own. Nancy is also survived by friends who were very dear and close to her throughout the years.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Voss, sister-in-law, Trina Voss, and nephew, Paul Tellock.

Nancy's family would like to thank the staff at Aurora-Oshkosh who took such good care of her the last few days of her life.

A private celebration of life will be held for Nancy.

Nancy worked with my mom at the Telephone Co. There were a few ladies there that kinda hung around together she, my mom, & like 5 or 6 other women. She also lived around the corner of our block. Myself & a friend would go visit her and have loads of laughs with her. She was definitely 1 of a kind. All of you were very lucky to have her in your life. I know all of us were. She's very missed.

Nancy was my lunch lady for many years, roughly '88-'98. She was one of the few grown ups that gave me a chance to shine and build work ethic assisting cafeteria clean up efforts. She always had a smile on her face and moved with a sense of urgency. She may have had a background position in education; but she left a profound impression on me that lasts a lifetime. God bless her service and provide comfort to those most affected by her absence.

I was fortunate to be working at Faith Lutheran DayCare when Nancy was the cook. Her food was always delicious and she was a delight to work with and always interacted with the children. She will be greatly missed!!

Nancy will be greatly missed - one of the notoriously silly Grace Lutheran Lunch Ladies. I was so very sad to hear when my mother told me she "lost her best friend" on Monday. I know she will miss their long phone calls, lunches and visits. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends alike.
