Neil Hintze Obituary

Hintze, Neil A.

Neil peacefully passed away at Bella Vista Assisted Living on Tuesday, August 2, 2017. Neil was born to Walter and Cecilia Hintze on October 18, 1930. He was one of eleven children. A resident of Oshkosh his entire life, Neil married Rita E. Petersen in Oshkosh on September 12 1953. She preceded him in death in 2007. Neil worked for many years for the Paine Lumber Co. and Georgia Pacific and after retirement found the need to still work for Car Quest Auto Parts. He missed being with people. For Neil one of his greatest joys and achievements was purchasing the lake property and providing a legacy for his family. "The Cottage" as it was called, was the host site for many great gatherings of friends and families. He took great pride in sharing the property - everyone was always welcome. It was Neil and Rita's wish that the cottage be preserved for the enjoyment of families for years to come. He proudly served his country and was a veteran of the Korean War serving from October 20th of 1949 until November 3rd of 1952.

Neil is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his five children, Cathy (Chris) Klenke, Linda (Mike) Artz, Jim (Patti) Hintze, Diane (Steve) Penzenstadler and Jean (David) Chapman as well as 6 grandchildren, Laura Schaefer (Brad Carman), David (Gwen) Schaefer, Liz (Simon) Moorhead, Anna Klenke, Nick Penzenstadler (fiance' Kate Chybowski) and Maria (Joel) Zinski. He also has 3 great-granddaughters, Alana, Ellie and Sloane. He is survived by siblings, Eileen Bronson, Judy (Jim) Wollangk and Joanne Schlichting, as well as in-laws, Mary Hintze, Carol Hintze and Dennis Mattison as well as many nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rita; siblings, Milton Hintze, Gene (Joyce) Hintze, Keith (Carol) Hintze, Gerald Hintze, Gabe Schlichting, Dennis (Ruth) Hintze, Sue (Richard) Ludwig, Glorianne Mattison; in-laws, Mary (Jake) Creeden, Nancy (Harold) Seifert.

A time of visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, August 7, 2017 in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at which time a service will be held. Full military honors will follow the service. Will always remember going to your Dad and Mom's cottage. What a long history of good times they must have had there. Your parents were fun loving and so kind. Bless your soul Neil.
