Widmer, Steven Lyle

Steven Lyle Widmer, President and founder of Energy Optimization Services, Inc. passed away on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 at Alden Estates of Barrington, IL. Steve had been battling Melanoma cancer since March of 2011.

Steve was born in Oshkosh on July 31, 1956 to Ken and Jean Widmer. He graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1974. He graduated from UW- Stout in 1983 with a major in Product Development and minors in Industrial Design, Art and Business. He had a long and prosperous career at Mercury Marine as an Engineer, with many patents in the Stern-Drive & Inboard Propulsion Systems Division.

On July 18, 1992, Steve married Debora A. Thompson at the Heidel House Resort in Green Lake, WI. They moved to Bartlett, IL shortly after their marriage and resided for the next 21 years.

Husband of Debbie; father of four, Sierra (Pablo Rodriguez), Ryan, Alexandra, Jennifer; son of Ken and Jean (nee Sawsville) Widmer; son-in-laws of Dennis and Joan (nee Engel) Thompson; brother of Daniel (Kim) Widmer, Bonnie (Mark) Heise, Lori (Tom) Ramsett and his late infant brother, Ronnie; brother-in-law to Joseph Thompson and James (Lisa) Thompson. Uncle of eleven nieces and nephews: Whitney, Danielle, Joshua, Trevor, Brandon T., Connor, Justin, Cole, Steven, Brandon H. (Jeane), and Merrick.

Steve was an avid outdoorsmen, who loved to fish and hunt. His passion was boats and spending time on the water. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful friend, a loving father and an adoring husband. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Visitation Tuesday, January 8, 4 -9 pm at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 South Bartlett Road, Bartlett, IL 60103. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, January 9, at 10:30am at Resurrection Parish, 30 W. 350 Army Trail Road, Wayne, IL 60184. I was so sad to hear of Steve's passing. I have so many great childhood memories with Steve, I just wished I would have been able to spend more time with him over the years.
My deepest sympathy to Ken, Jean, Debbie and the rest of his family and children. I will truly miss him!
