CHARLES NASSTROM Obituary

NASSTROM, CHARLES JOSEPH; was born July 5, 1927 to Zacharias Algot and May Victoria Nasstrom in Pontiac. He was baptized August 21, 1927 at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pontiac and was later confirmed there. He and Hazel were married at Shepherd King Lutheran Church on June 21, 1974. Over the years he has served the Lord and Shepherd King as Sunday School teacher, President, usher, greeter, and evangelism leader. Chuck is the father of Mark (Michelle) Nasstrom, Mary (Butch) Morrison, Melissa Nasstrom, Glenna (Steve) Conklin, Gretta (Bill) Schermerhorn, and Gregory (Lori) Nasstrom; and step-father of Carol Richie, Terry (Raymond) Redman, and the late William Raynes. He is the grandfather of 23 and great grandfather of 11. From May 27, 1947 to September 9, 1947 and again from November 13, 1950 to October 19, 1952, he served in the United States Army. He has worked for the Community National Bank, Retail Credit Co., All State Insurance Co., and until his retirement on August 1, 1989, he worked for State Farm Insurance Co. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching old movies and loved the Detroit Tigers. He also enjoyed learning new things, enjoyed political debates, reading the classics and crossword puzzles. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 12 Noon at Shepherd King Lutheran Church, 5300 W. Maple Rd. West Bloomfield. The family will receive friends at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment Oakland Hills Cemetery, Novi.
