Thomas Kretz

1936 - 2016

Kretz, Thomas Lawrence Sr. Age 80; of Clarkston; was called to be with the Lord on September 25, 2016, peacefully at his home. Tom was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 2, 1936. After being honorably discharged from the Air Force, he worked as a Fuller Brush salesman and mechanic before being hired by General Motors. Tom worked at Fisher Body and the Orion Assembly plant where he retired after over 30 years of service. Among many of his favorite things, Tom enjoyed working in his yard and tending to his garden. He was often found in his yard during all seasons – plowing, hanging Christmas Lights, “bouncing around on his tractor,” weed-whacking and on his hands and knees picking dandelions during thunderstorms. After yard work, he often enjoyed a huge bowl of Cook’s Dairy ice cream, his favorite flavor, vanilla. Tom also enjoyed trips to visit his children, Greektown and Tigers Baseball games. Tom is survived by his daughters, Tammy (Gary), Theresa (Ed) and Tracy (Jess); his sons, Thomas (Tilly) and Timothy (Janet) and Ben (Judy); grandchildren, Michael, Ronald, Joshua, Craig, Jordan, April, Kyle Rachel, Nicole and Julie; and former spouses Linda and Mary Lee. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father, Lawrence; and sister Bonnee. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 1 p.m. at SPARKS-GRIFFIN FUNERAL HOME, Lake Orion. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Interment Eastlawn Cemetery. www.sparksgriffin.com
