Wish You Were Here
Dad,
7 years have passed.
I'll never forget the day
Someone rang to tell me
That you'd gone away.
The hurt is the same,
Like an open wound.
There are days
I don't utter a sound.
Some days the pain is stronger.
It makes me sick and weak.
I can't stand this much longer.
I just sit here and weep.
I've shut my private door
And let no one in,
Locking myself in a box.
They try, but I won't give in.
You were like a rock,
Strong, faithful and true.
What worth has my life
Now that I don't have you?
I was your first born,
Daddy's little girl.
I took my own path
But was still part of your world.
I was not the best,
Guilty of neglect,
But you know, Daddy dearest,
I had so much respect.
I always loved you,
My dad, my star.
Now my pain is
To worship you from afar.
I love you now
As I did back then.

Sometimes I think about the hard days when we would argue, and I just think about how silly it was to get so upset over nothing. Where you are now, I know there is only peace and love, and I cannot imagine a better place for someone as amazing as you to spend your birthday. I love you so much, Dad. Heaven is lucky to have you!

Christmas time is approaching, and snow will soon cover the ground.
Trees and lights are twinkling; stockings are being hung.
The Christmas spirit is all around as carols are being sung.
This year Christmas is not the same, just a yearly memory.
This house is not a home anymore because you are not here with me.
There will be sadness; there will be tears when we wake up on Christmas day,
For this will be many without you; oh, how I wish heaven was just a mile away.
As we sit around the Christmas tree, emotions will be sad.
Gifts for them, gifts for me, but none of them will say DAD.
All I want for Christmas is to see your smiling face.
I know it cannot happen because you are in a better place.

Five years ago today you went to heaven
Dear Father,
whatever happens, you will forever stay in my heart.
Dad, I wish you happiness wherever you are. I miss you so much!
If you are looking at me from up in heaven, I want you to know that I´m not okay without you. It´s been quite a while now since you are gone but I still keep can´t help myself missing you so much.
All the happiness in this world could not fill the hole you left in me. For me, you were the most perfect dad, a best friend, and a great mentor. I miss you all the time now!
To me, you were the best dad of all time. Maybe this is the reason why the pain of losing you is just too heavy for me to carry! I miss you!
Dad, I never got a chance to say this to you but I love you so much. Thanks for giving us all the love of the world.

Before your day has begun?
Can the heavens hear your laughter
As you sit and reminisce
About the time we had together
And other people that you miss?
And Daddy, do you still take walks
Along heaven's seas?
And when you gaze upon the surf,
Do you remember walks with me?
Are your standing with those brave young men
Upon its perfect shores?
Finally by their sides again,
Your comrades from the war.
Do you gather with your family

That once you called your home.

Dad, you left us 3 years ago today, Thoughts of you, may come and go.
Like the blinding rain and the fallen
snow. For way down deep inside of
me, here is where you'll always be.
Regardless, how many years have
passed it seems like yesterday. I
see your face before me, as If you've
never gone away. Sometimes, I feel
you're watching over me, just like you
used to do. Who's to say it's not
possible, I'd like to think, that it's true.
Believe it or not, I still talk to you, it
comforts me when I'm down. I know
you can hear me, even though you're
not around. It really doesn't matter,
for you live within my heart, here to

Merry Christmas in heaven dad,
When I think of all the special moments we have spent together,
tears are truly brought to my eyes; you've been there through every type of weather.
Through the moments when I have been sad, down and blue,
I want to say, on this Christmas Day, that I really, truly thank you.
Dad, you are my hero. Dad, you are my source of life.
Dad, you are my inspiration. Dad, you are my source of might.
When someone means this much to you and so much in your life,
Giving thanks at Christmas is truly what is right.
In my life, so many people have come and gone throughout the years.
So many of these people have left me crying and left me in tears.
You were always there to pick up the pieces and send me on the right track.
At Christmas, I wish there was a way that I could pay you back.
Christmas in this home has always been full of so much love.
Christmas in this home has always been full of praise for God and Christ up above.
Without you in my life, these important lessons I would have never had.
Therefore, I must truly say and tell you that I love you so much, Dad.
Outside, I see the Christmas snow starting to pile up on the ground.
Inside, songs and musics about the season play of which I hear the sounds.
However, where I look to most on this Christmas Day is in my heart.
Here I find the love I have for you Dad; I'm so glad on Christmas, we are never apart.

Kim, Tim, Damaris, and family members - my sincere symphony to everyone.
I first met Tony in 1962 when I worked on a research project with him. Although I was not involved with fisheries, I admired the different research programs he was successful doing over the years.
Sometime in 1963 I met Jean along with the children Kim and Tim.
Tony was very happy to have someone fishing with him on his boat which we did many times. Later on we would take our sons who became friends and liked fishing.
During the years after Judy and I got married we had many enjoyable dinners and occasions together. Have to mention the annual August birthday celebrations.
We both recall the proud Tony walking Kim down the aisle.
Both Judy and I have enjoyed our friendship with Damaris
He was a great family friend!

Tony is a very dear friend from the past. I first met Tony when lecturing at UW School of Fisheries when I was a student of fish diseases there in late 1980's. When I in 1990 was employed by Biomed Inc. working with fish vaccines, Tony, a long-term consultant for the company, became my mentor and friend teaching me about what the real life of aquaculture disease problems was like. I got to spend valuable time with Tony in field. Tony was a wealth of unique experience and knowledge. Hardly ever a situation he had not seen before, and helped deal with. When I first moved to Norway on Biomed's behalf in 1993 my encounters with Tony became less frequent but in those years, every time I came to Seattle, Tony opened his home to me and we spend valuable time together. A better friend is hard to come by. You are missed dear friend. My sincerely condolences to Damaris and the rest of Tony's family. Sincerely. Ragnar Thorarinsson

Dad, As We Look Back
As we look back over time
Kim and I find ourselves wondering ..
Did we remember to thank you enough
For all you have done for us?
For all the times you were by our sides
To help and support us ..
To celebrate our successes
To understand our problems
And accept our defeats?
All the vacations you and Mom took us on
Paying for my college
Helping me get jobs in high school and in Alaska
Or for teaching us by your example,
The value of hard work, good judgment,
Courage and integrity?
We wonder if we ever thanked you
For the sacrifices you made.
