Gerald Kernan Obituary

Kennewick, Washington - Gerald Willian "Gerry" Kernan passed away peacefully in his sleep March 24, 2023, in Kennewick, WA. Gerry was born December 21, 1954, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Vancouver, WA, the fifth of ten children born to Alice and Gene Kernan. He was named after the family doctor, Gerry Turley, and his maternal grandfather, William McMahon of Chicago, Illinois. Gerry shared his December 21st birthday with his mother, Alice, and his older brother, Gene, Jr.
As a young boy growing up in Ridgefield, WA, Gerry's family nickname was appropriately "Love", as it was the vibe he exuded throughout his life. He was engaging and had a knack for making those around him feel comfortable. This characteristic made him a natural in the event planning industry that he worked in for many years in Florida and Utah, including the 2002 Winter Olympics in Deer Valley Resort.
Gerry is preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Gene Kernan, and his older sister, Kimberly Griffith.
He is survived by his former spouse, Kris (Jarmer-Rosen) Kernan, and son, Scott Kernan of Panama City, Florida; five brothers and three sisters, and nineteen nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
A memorial gathering is being planned for a future date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Peter's Hospital Sunshine House, Olympia, Washington.
