Glen Dotson Obituary

Glen H. Dotson of Tacoma, Washington passed away on December 11, 2001, at the age of 91. He was born on July 18, 1910, in Chehalis, Washington, and spent his younger years in the areas of Yakima, Washington and Rochester, Washington. After graduating from Rochester High School, he worked as a surveyor and logger before entering Company B of the Engineers Combat Battalion attached to the 41st Division of the Army in 1940, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant. In 1941 he married Greta L. Beeler, settling in Tacoma after overseas duty in Australia.He worked 30 years for Titus Motor Company as a mechanic and became highly skilled in many hobbies, such as lapidary work, stained glass, and fine woodwork. He loved the outdoors, spending much time hunting, fishing, and trapshooting. In later years, he also enjoyed gardening and traveling with Greta, who preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by his children, Glenda Lawson and Jim Dotson of Tacoma, and Evelyn Gumpert of Kirkland, Wash.; 5 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and one sister, Virginia Robinson of Salem, Oregon.Glen will always be remembered and loved for his integrity, gentle humor, dedication to family and friends, and his pursuit of excellence in whatever task he undertook. To his children and grandchildren he was a truly great and loving father and an excellent role model. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 15th, at New Tacoma Cemetery, Chambers Creek Chapel. Donations may be made in Glen's name to the American Heart Association.
