Gwen Atkinson Obituary

Gwen Lee Atkinson

July 18, 1942 - April 11, 2024

Olympia, Washington - Gwen Lee Atkinson of Olympia, Washington passed away April 11, 2024, at the age of 81.

She was born in Raymond, Washington on July 18, 1942, the son of Charles and Irene Atkinson. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Michael and Patrick.

She graduated as valedictorian from Willapa Valley High in Raymond in 1962, and lived in Encinitas, California for 23 years before moving to Olympia in 2001.

She was a kind soul who was always loving and supportive. She was a nature enthusiast who enjoyed bird watching and sitting outside on her patio for hours on end whenever the weather was nice. She also loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica, Peru, France, Tahiti, and many tropical locales throughout the Caribbean. Some of her happiest moments were on family trips where she could snorkel during the day and eat coconut shrimp on the beach in the evening. She also had long-standing interests in holistic wellness and healing. She will always be loved and will truly be missed.

She is survived by her twin sister Gail Wyman of Olympia and her two sons Todd Terry (wife Jessica Bookwalter) and Scott Terry (wife Kate Nagle-Caraluzzo) of Seattle.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 26, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo, Washington.
