Although I only knew Hank for a short time, I enjoyed going back to visit he and Connie. Hank was easy to talk to and I loved his humor. Oh and yes I will always have his rosy red cheeks and great smile as a warm memory. Connie may the Lord bless you with wonderful memories to sustain you as you grieve the loss of your beloved Hank.

We were backyard neighbors until I moved in 2000. We had lots of good over-the-fence chats and a good time rebuilding our fence that separated our properties, even put a gate in and then I moved.
Marge and I were so happy when you and Connie rode your Harley to see our new home in Kalama.
Connie, our sympathy and caring go to you and your family.

To Hank's family,
I am not sure you will remember me. As a fellow former Trooper and Hank's former Bishop in the Lacey 2nd Ward, I was sad to hear of Hank's passing.

Connie & Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about Hank's passing and share in your grief.
Hank was my brother trooper in Olympia while I was assigned there from 1973-78. He always had a smile, was good natured, had a sense of humor and was a real gentleman. While my assignment in SEO at the time kept me from spending as much time with him as others in the detachment, nonetheless, through my experiences with him on the road, at in-service, and knowing what he was about, caused me to hold him in great respect. I recognized what a good man, husband and father he was. I wish all of you comfort found in your faith.

As I sit here to write this, I'm still in disbelief that I won't be able to pick up the phone and call my Dad.
My dad had this saying on a piece of wood that he had for years. It read, "A friend is not a feller who thinks everything is grand, a friend is one who knows your faults and doesn't give a d%@m." That, in a nutshell, was my Dad. Being the kid who tended to "color outside of the lines," he always loved and accepted me for just being me.
With his size, I always felt like a little girl giving him a hug. I will miss that.
On Father's Day this year, I was sitting next to him and he grabbed my hand and started looking at the ring on my finger. He commented on how much he liked it. I then reminded him that he actually gave me the ring 25 years ago, and I never take it off. His comment..."Dang, I have good taste!" You can bet that the ring will be on my finger for the rest of my life.
I love you Dad, and miss you already.
Love Jill.
p.s. feel free to turn the electricty back on in my bedroom....

Hank,
To think that you are now riding with some of my favorite people, makes me happy and sad all at the same time. You have always made me laugh and you always had the greatest perspective on life. You made a difference in my life and I will always be grateful for having known you.
Connie, you are the my dear friend and you and Hank were so perfect together. Hank knew how wonderful you are and his love for you will help you go on. Feel that love in everything that reminds you of him and hold those thoughts tightly so you may always be comforted.
My love and respect to the Owen family.

Connie & Family,
I am so very sorry and sad to hear of Hank's passing. I did not know that he had been suffering with any illness since this summer.
Hank & I worked together in the same Olympia Detachment for several years. I believe the time frame was 1985 - 1995. He then transferred to the Capitol Detachment to finish out his WSP career there. We had a lot of fun working together, especially when I started riding motorcycles (Harley's) on the job with Hank and the others. At coffee stops we sure had a lot of laughs. Poker night at Dick Carr's was great. He was such nice man and took no grief from anyone, especially on traffic stops. (My kinda guy) He was always someone you wanted nearby when you had a contact go sour and you needed the extra muscle to get the bad guy in the patrol car. l still remember one time we stopped this car full of young men. The passengers were the ones giving both of us grief while we were contacting the driver. Finally Hank spoke up and said in a very commanding voice, "Hey, if you guys want to talk to us", go home and get your own car ". That shut them right up. My wife Karen and I always got a kick when we would see Hank driving around town after he retired on his Harley with his hair flowing out behind him and his bushy beard with a big smile on his face. While I was still working and when Hank would take part in the Xmas Santa ride to the Capitol Campus and drop off the toys. We would visit outside of my patrol vehicle and other bikers would come gather around and be curious about this huge biker looking guy hanging out with this State Trooper.
Please know that my family & I will be praying for your family during this time of your loss.
