Leslie Joseph Baxter Jr.

Leslie Joseph Baxter Jr., a long time Tenino resident, passed away on January 30, 2010 at the age of 63. He was born in Centralia, Washington on September 5, 1946 to Leslie Joseph and Violet (Raner) Baxter. He entered the US Navy just out of high school where he served as a Radioman. Les spent many years in the logging industry, working for Weyerhaueser, Simpson Timber and Ash Logging. Since 2002 he has worked for the state, mostly with DSHS.
Les was preceded in death by his mother, step-father Bud Degner, and younger brothers Jack and Ronnie. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Susie Baxter, and his grandchildren, Emily and Ethan Baxter of Bucoda, Washington. He is also survived by his sister, Susie Teaford (Jerry) of Tenino, Washington; his brother, Wesley Baxter; his sister, Gayle Hartman (Perry) of Tenino, Washington; his nieces and nephew, Carrie Baxter, Kim Noonan (Chad), Pat Teaford (Amy), Jenny Hartman, and Jessica Hartman; his great-nieces and nephews, Riley Noonan, Natalie Noonan, Chase Hartman, Lucy Teaford and Cohen Hartman; and his aunts, Leona Bonner, Maxine Butts and Nita Onn.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 20, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Quarry House, 319 Park St, Tenino, Washington.
