I remember as a young girl, young elementary school-age, mom teaching me how to play jacks. She was a pro and knew all the different levels with her eyes closed and hands behind her back. There is, of course, the initial easy-peasy round. Then comes twosies and threesies All the way up to picking up the whole lot. After that there are more advanced levels; something about Chicken in the Coop (which is particularly fitting sense, as newlyweds my parents started out in the ultimate "tiny house," dwelling in a chicken coop They were trend setters way before their time!)

I remember hours and hours of sitting on that small, wood living room floor with her, bouncing that little red ball and picking up jack's. We had to be careful because if we tossed the ball carelessly, it could hit in between the wood slats on the floor and bounce askew. That became a lost turn; no do overs. Taught me the skill of careful precision and focus, which, ergo, oft gave way to howling laughter as the ball shot here and there with ridiculous erraticity. Jacks with mom; such a fond memory to always have tucked away in my heart's pocket.

You are free to finally dance with dad again, mom ❤
